Pinotage (Pinotage) - the flagship red variety of South Africa. Almost nowhere else is grown. It gives a wide range of wines: from simple table wines to rich concentrated samples with a bouquet of red fruits, spices, leather, coffee and chocolate.
Pinotage is the result of crossing Pinot Noir and Senso varieties, first produced in 1925 by Professor Abraham Perold (South Africa).
The word Pinotage is also a hybrid: Pinot and Hermitage (as Senso was called in South Africa).
Home of Origin wine(Pty) Ltd was founded by a group of South African entrepreneurs in August 2002. The company's headquarters and main processing facility were established near Stellenbosch. The company's first wines were released in 2003.
In a relatively short period of time, the company managed to occupy 18% of the country's export market. Today, the company has its own vineyards. Also, the principle of operation is based on long-term contracts concluded with 25 farms and wineries.
