History of wine
"Puro" - one of the most interesting wines of the Movia farm. This sparkling wine is created using the classic Puro technology, without the use of sulfur and preservatives, sugar and artificial yeast. The wine is made from Chardonnay and Rebula grapes (Ribolla Jalla) of late harvest, grown in a biodynamic vineyard. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for four years. After bottling, slow fermentation continues. Bottles of "Puro" are stored in the cellars of the winery upside down, and the wine can Mature for many years. The bottle opens in a special way under water.. "Puro" lives almost forever, since the constantly present yeast can support it for many, many years. It retains its excellent shape even after 10-15 years of storage.
One of the oldest farms in the region Collio-Brda on the border of Slovenia and Italy was founded in the early XVIII century and since 1820 belongs to the family Kristančič. The area of vineyards is 22 hectares, some of them are located in Slovenia, in Goriška Brda, and some on the border of the Italian region Collio. Now the farm is managed by the charismatic Ales Kristančič, who practices his philosophy, partially based on the principles of biodynamics and developing the traditions of winemaking in the region. Ales works in the vineyards and the winery according to the lunar calendar, cultivate soil and vines only with natural means. He uses a homegrown yeast and guides the long maceration process of white wines. For white and red wines Ales carefully uses oak barrels of different sizes and different origins. Despite the minimal use of sulfur dioxide (and for some wines complete rejection), Movia wines have great potential for development.
